Vik Muniz

Cloud Cloud San Diego

2007

Vik Muniz made his first Cloud Cloud skywriting drawings in 2001. These consist of simple line drawings of a cloud, executed in the blue firmament by a skywriting plane. Pictograms more than drawings, they represent the idea of a cloud. But set up in the sky, the relationship between image, idea, and reality becomes jumbled. In 2007, MCASD commissioned Vik Muniz to create Cloud Cloud San Diego.
