Iana Quesnell

Triptych: Migration Path

2007

Influenced by systems analysis, Iana Quesnell researches and applies varying levels of information and data to represent her chosen tracking assignment. Quesnell’s Triptych: Migration Path (2007) describes the artist’s movements as she travelled between La Jolla, the former location of her studio, and her Tijuana home via the public transit system. Self-referential and experientially driven, the large pencil and graphite works on paper have the quality of multi-dimensional cartographies that follow her movements through a specific territory, narrowing in on the particular coordinates where she settles for long or short periods of time.
